Cratus Group Pays Tribute to Ian Hudspeth OBE

Everyone at Cratus Group is saddened to learn of the death of our long term Associate, Ian Hudspeth OBE, aged 65.

Throughout his political career, Ian was a strong voice for all levels of local government having started off as a Parish then District councillor in West Oxfordshire before being elected to Oxfordshire County Council for the first time in 2005. Ian soon rose up the ranks of the County Council and served as County Council Leader from 2012 to 2021.

In addition to his work in Oxfordshire, Ian served as Chairman of the Local Government Association’s Community Wellbeing Board from 2018 to 2021 leading for the LGA on Healthcare and Social Care policy. Ian was appointed an OBE for services to Local Government in 2021 – a worthy reward for his services to the community.

During his time with Cratus, Ian was a valued colleague who provided sound advice to clients and colleagues alike with characteristic kindness and good humour. As the tributes to Ian from politicians from across the political spectrum and from officers demonstrate, Ian was a greatly respected public servant.
