Cratus Communications celebrates young talent

09.04.20

Cratus Communications has submitted three names to the PR Week 30 Under 30 Awards 2020. Charlotte Platten, Account Manager for PR & Advisory, is up for the 30 Under 30 award, while Katy Bennett, Account Manager for Communities, and David Parry, Account Manager for Southern Home Counties, are both up in PR Week’s brand new ‘Newcomer’ category, which celebrates young professionals in the first two years of their careers.

Charlotte joined Cratus’ internship program in September 2018 after working at Fortnum and Mason and the PRCA. Working at Cratus sparked her interest in Local Government and she has worked to obtain planning permission for clients across the Capital and the Home Counties. More recently she has been working with Cratus’ Strategic team who work directly with Local Authorities and across a broader PR brief to manage and solve a whole host of problems. She is now a key part of the brand new PR and Advisory service, working closely with Sean Anstee, former leader of Trafford Council, to help clients navigate PR issues, restructures and strategic land allocations.

Katy joined the Communities team in late 2018 after gaining experience as a paralegal and in marketing. After volunteering with Citizens Advice, she was looking for a role which allowed her to problem solve and combine the creative elements of communications and marketing. Katy embeds herself in new build developments once outline planning permission is granted, working to integrate the new community with existing residents facing the disruption of living beside a building site. She protects, improves and bolsters the reputation of both the development and her clients through stakeholder engagement, proactive communications, seasonal events and crisis management when things like traveller incursions occur. Using a combination of established communication tools and knowledge gained from her additional PR study, Katy supports her clients and residents to ensure that high-profile, large-scale and challenging developments are a great success for everyone.

David started work with Cratus having completed an internship with Guildford Borough Council’s housing department. His experience during this time began an interest in local government which has only grown in his nearly two years with Cratus. David works in the Southern Home Counties team where he has helped clients navigate the complex issues that are faced by authorities where much of the land is designated as Green Belt. He has also helped clients understand the ever-changing political landscape of former Conservative strongholds where the party has felt the brunt of the dreaded B-word.

Nick Kilby, CEO, said:

“Cratus has a long history of investing in young talent, and these three are fruits of our investment. We’re proud to be a place where graduates and young people can thrive, supported by a team of experienced managers. We wish them all the best with their nominations, and look forward to sharing more about their future successes.”
