Chris joined the Public Affairs team at Cratus in Autumn 2020. He has served as an elected Councillor since 2003 and became Leader of Brentwood Borough Council in May 2019.
During his time in Local Government Chris has held responsibility for all the key Local Council portfolios including Planning, Environmental Services, Housing, Finance, Policy and Economic Development.
Whilst serving in Local Government Chris also maintained a full time ‘parallel career’ in the Motor Industry working as a consultant for some of the biggest automotive brands such a Ford, Mercedes-Benz and VW, focussing on business development and change management.
His real passion is Local Government and Communities, he is a hands on Leader that shows a keen and probing interest in all areas of Local Government. He played a proactive role during the Covid pandemic of 2020 co-ordinating efforts between the Council, various agencies and community groups and is also directly involved in anticipated Local Government Reform plans for Essex.
Chris also serves on the Thames Estuary Growth Board, is Vice Chairman of the Association of South Essex Local Authorities (ASELA) where he is the lead for communications. He sits on the Board for Opportunity South Essex (OSE), is member of the Police Fire & Crime Panel for Essex, scrutinising the work of the Commissioner and also Chairs Brentwood’s Community Safety Partnership.
