Julian is the Managing Director of Cratus Planning Communications practice, which operates from offices in Bristol, London, Manchester and Southampton. He takes a partnership approach to projects and firmly believes that development can benefit everyone if done correctly.
Having worked in specialist property communications since 2006, Julian has worked across the country and across the sectors. He has worked for retailers and retail landlords, such as Sainsbury’s, Hammerson and Land Securities during the retail boom; infrastructure and renewable energy generators, including on and offshore wind, solar and Energy from Waste schemes; and most recently has been delivering communications support around strategic housing allocations and planning applications.
Julian designed and led the consultation for Gatwick’s second runway application in advance of the Davies Commission Report into airport capacity in the South East. Taking in a roadshow of 18 public exhibitions, workshops, staff events and political engagement the programme found support for the widest and most capable runway option based on anticipated economic growth and jobs growth.
Julian is particularly proud of the development of Cratus Engage, Cratus’ engagement platform which uses digital presentation techniques and easy to use online surveys, and combines them with the best of traditional engagement techniques. The platform has provided the opportunity to give out more information to a wider audience than traditional face-to-face events alone, for example at the former Wisley Airfield, and will be integrated into all future campaigns.
Before joining Cratus, Julian briefly worked for an MP before going into the private sector, working for several consultancies as a property communications specialist.
