About Marlies

Marlies joined in January 2015 to strengthen the team working on sensitive development projects in rural areas. Marlies is ideally suited to this role, being able to combine a wealth of experience in the worlds of both communications and renewable energy.

In 2007 Marlies came to the UK to join Infinergy, an independent onshore wind developer based in Wimborne, Dorset. During her time there, she has been closely involved in planning applications, public consultation, community engagement, media relations and political liaison for a portfolio of approximately 40 wind developments throughout the UK. From working on all aspects of these projects, she has developed an in-depth understanding of how large-scale infrastructure projects can be successfully introduced to, and integrated with, the communities that host them to ensure they peacefully coexist. An understanding of the planning process, government policy and guidance as well as some technical knowledge of renewable installations have been instrumental in her success in this job.

Marlies is from the Netherlands and worked there as a communications consultant for YACHT, a recruitment and secondment agency owned by the Randstad Group before crossing the Channel and settling in England. She now lives with her partner and two cats in a small Dorset village close to the Hampshire border.

In her free time, Marlies enjoys riding out in the New Forest on her horse Basil. Living in the UK has opened her eyes to British cuisine and she has grown fond of typical treats such as sticky toffee pudding, steak and ale pie and the occasional pickled egg.
