On Tuesday 24th November, the Aviation Communities Summit 2020: From the Ground Up, was hosted by the London Borough of Hounslow in partnership with the West London Alliance.
The Summit brought together speakers from across the UK to explore how the huge reduction in aviation activity as a result of Covid-19 is impacting, in particular, people who rely on the sector for employment and what can be done to support both the industry and local communities moving forwards. Cross-party contributions came from Aviation Minister Robert Courts MP, Anas Sarwar MSP, Henry Smith MP and Mike Kane MP in his role as Shadow Minister for Aviation. In addition, representatives from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, LB of Hounslow, West London Alliance and the IATA provided important insights for the online audience.
Beyond the summit, work now starts on establishing an Aviation Communities fund, hopefully with the support of the government, and to launch a task force which would provide practical support to all communities suffering as a result of reduced operations within the aviation industry.
The Cratus team was delighted to produce and manage both the summit programme and the live webinar. If you would like to discuss how we can work with you and your organisation on similar events and campaigns please contact us today via email.
