Aidan has over thirty years’ experience in the news media and provides expert advice on crisis management, communication skills, structuring teams, public relations and general media advice.
He spent twenty two years at Mirror Group Newspapers – most recently as Managing Editor – responsible for the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Sunday People and Mirror Online. His responsibilities included around 400 staff and a £40 million budget. His work involved liaising closely with Editors, outside organisations and protecting journalistic standards against the background of a difficult economic climate.
Aidan was responsible for re-introducing the Mirror trainee scheme and played a key part in the recruitment and career development of Editorial staff.
He is an award winning reporter who covered the Soham Murders, Hurricane Katrina and exposed a major security lapse at Stansted Airport. Even after ten years in senior management he regards himself a journalist first and foremost.
Aidan is a councillor on Essex CC and is former chairman of the Economic Development and Recovery Committee on Basildon Council.
