New report: Gender equality in the built environment – are we really making progress?

10.03.26

Cratus Group, in partnership with the LPDF (Land, Planning and Development Federation), has published its 2026 International Women’s Day report  and the findings might surprise you.

Building on our 2025 baseline, this year’s data gives a rare year-on-year comparison of gender equality across the sector. The picture? Progress in some areas… but stubborn challenges remain.

A few headlines:

  • Gender bias is up – rising to 47.9%

  • Work-life balance hasn’t shifted – still sitting at 45.5%

  • Inclusivity is improving – but only slightly (65.9%)

  • Imposter syndrome remains high – still affecting over 4 in 10

It’s clear: we’re talking more, but changing less.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain”, challenges all of us to think about what we need to actively contribute – from sponsorship and allyship to flexibility and leadership – to drive real change.

Produced by Cratus Group and LPDF, this is essential reading for anyone working across the built environment sector.
