After 132 years, it is time to say goodbye to Northamptonshire County Council. A council with a rich history, for the past few years, Northamptonshire became synonymous with local government financing gone wrong, making headlines in 2018 for being one of the very few councils who have ever filed a Section 114 (effective bankruptcy) notice.
In 2020, however, Northamptonshire was, for the third year running, able to balance its books, and significantly transform its services.
To mark the occasion, we brought together the key players in the transformation of the Council to give attendees an insight into the journey that Northamptonshire has been on, and to reflect on the lessons that can be taken from the Council’s radical improvement.
Amongst the panelists were: Council Leader, Matt Golby; Lead Commissioner, Tony McArdle; Chief Executive, Theresa Grant; and many more, including a guest feature from the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP.
