James Beckles

Campaign Manager
James is our Campaign Manager, looking after the 165,000 Reasons campaign and our Development Forums. He is a former councillor at the London Borough of Newham, where he served for 3 years as the Local Development Committee Chair.

Prior to joining Cratus James worked for a racial justice charity as their Public Affairs and Engagement Manager where he led on external engagement with government departments and officials in Whitehall, the nations and stakeholder engagement with communities. James has experience of working within a built environment agency and previously worked on projects across residential, infrastructure and energy projects.

In 2021 and 2024 James ran as a list candidate for the London Assembly for the Labour Party. Outside of work James is a keen runner and regularly runs 5kms, 10kms and the occasional half marathon. He is also a supporter of the brilliant Liverpool FC and his local team Clapton CFC.
