Alderman Seán Woodward was a Fareham Borough Councillor for 38 years and a Hampshire County Councillor for 19 years until last year.

In his time, he led the Borough Council for 25 years through some of its largest projects including the development of Solent Airport @ Daedalus, new leisure and community centres, town centre regeneration visioning and the construction of the Fareham Live arts and entertainment complex. Seán was also responsible for the birth of Welborne Garden Village which he oversaw all the way from proposing the development to seeing the first new homes and infrastructure under construction.
As Hampshire County Council Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment Seán brought forward a number of major infrastructure projects across Hampshire including Stubbington Bypass.
Seán is experienced in fostering collaboration and communication between Hampshire’s local authorities as initiating and chairing the Partnership for South Hampshire (aka PUSH) for 20 years, the partnership of 12 local authorities around The Solent whose aim is to improve the “environmental, cultural and economic performance of south Hampshire”. He was also involved in the original negotiations to bring about a Mayoral Combined Authority in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
